This article examines the intersubjective dynamics of middle-aged heterosexual couples from a psychoanalytic and gender perspective. It explores relational patterns based on implicit relational knowledge and their impact on affective interactions, investigating concepts such as attachment, mutual recognition, and gender tensions. The article also addresses how gender structures influence emotional regulation and the construction of the couple’s relationship. Finally, it reflects on the need to foster more equitable relationships that promote mutual well-being.
