DESIRE: THE ENCOUNTER WITH OTHERS. EROTIC AND SEXUAL POSITIONINGS IN OLD AGE

Abstract

Based on the film La vida empieza hoy, by Laura Mañá (2010), this article reflects on the social empowerment of the erotic and sexual positioning of the elderly today. From an artistic production, the analysis is based on the potential of art to create new systems of meaning that support the construction of the psyche. Through various scenes in the film, the social representations related to old age are addressed, the ways in which others enable or hinder desire and the possible contributions of psychoanalysis to think about subjective positioning throughout life and sexuality in a broad and driven sense, in dialogue with the other.
