Abstract

This text problematizes the notions of victim and perpetrator from a philosophical, psychoanalytic, and gender perspective within the framework of human rights. The production of the binary simplifies the complexity involved in reflecting on social
and human issues. The idea of victim-perpetrator represents discursive and material oppositions; it is granted opposing value judgments. It also implies the fulfillment of certain expectations regarding exclusion and need. Understanding the symbolic and
material dimensions involved in the terms contributes to incorporating the diverse nuances that arise in each case.
