This work presents a dialogue between two texts, a literary and a psychoanalytic one, and refers to how affectivity is essentially linked to perceptual and concrete details of the material world. The metaphor of otherness, that unsettling strangeness of oneself and of the other, is also a metaphor for the inaccessible and an ungraspable residue of oneself, the world, and that other age, childhood.
